STORYLINE:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday met the head of the Eastern Orthodox Church, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, on the second day of his visit to Turkey.
The Ukrainian leader also attended a church ceremony for the victims of the war in Ukraine that was led by the Ecumenical Patriarch.
Zelenskyy arrived in Turkey on Friday as part of a European tour to rally support for Ukraine’s entry into NATO.
He met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who expressed support early Saturday for Ukraine to join the military alliance.
NATO leaders meeting in Vilnius, Lithuania, next week are expected to reaffirm that Ukraine will join their alliance one day.
