A Franco-Indonesian scientific expedition ventures into a still unknown region of the island of Papua: the Lengguru Massif. For scientists, this very isolated territory is an open-air laboratory. It harbors one of the richest biodiversity zones on the planet.

The waters of this part of the world are separate from the large oceanic complexes and vast networks of rivers in which species flow easily. How have their aquatic fauna and flora evolved?

The expedition made several surprising encounters: a depigmented fish devoid of eyes, an unexpected freshwater turtle in the depths of a flooded cave, and pink-tipped dolphins yet unclassified to date.

The samples collected were sent to laboratories at the forefront of research. They will enrich the knowledge on one areas of the globe which, in many ways, is a conservatory of life as it was millions of years ago.
