Indonesian students stormed a convention centre in the city of Banda Aceh on December 27, 2023, demanding that the more than 100 Rohingya refugees staying there be deported. Crowds of Rohingya men, women and children were seated on the floor and crying in fear. Tensions on the Indonesian island of Aceh have been rising as it experiences what the United Nations has called the biggest influx of Rohingya refugees in years.
