We’ve heard it all before,
We’ve heard it all before, scammers making fake calls in the hopes of scaring you into paying them thousands of dollars. The Union County Sheriff’s Office is warning its residents of a scam where the person claims to be the sheriff.
If you answer the phone, the scammer will say you were summoned for jury duty but did not show -- and now you’re on the hook for $1,500.
So how can you spot these scams and protect yourself and your money? The WCNC Charlotte Verify team looked into it.
