The genesis for the project came after a disappointing Google search for the 10 most beautiful streets in London. What did I find? Over a dozen blogs listing a bunch of unconvincing and mostly unimpressive "Instagrammable" streets from various tourists who simply don't know the city like a local does. Having lived and breathed London for 10 years across multiple bases (flats, jobs and... well, ex-girlfriends' flats) I feel a responsibility to show the world where the beauty really lies in the UK's capital.

The plan is as follows: upload 100 or more walks of streets which I feel belong on the list in no particular order. After this comes the challenge where I assemble them in order and present the list to the world.

Having sunk some serious hours in already, I have a shortlist of just over 100 streets for consideration. I must stress, if you have suggestions for streets you'd like to see then please discuss in the comments below. I respond to almost all comments! I will take likes/dislikes as a form of feedback as well, of course. Plus if you have friends and family who love London, by all means share the videos! I could use all the feedback I can get. :)

When you think of Notting Hill, what street comes to mind? Most people would say Portobello Road. However if there's one street that shows the true face of Notting Hill, for me that would be Ladbroke Grove.

Approximately 1.5 miles/2.5km long, it spans not one but two districts of London, starting with Notting Hill (W11) to the south, then North Kensington (W10) to the north. The crossover between districts happens at the 12:06 mark.

What you'll notice is the immediate contrast in districts typically between the wealthy and the less wealthy. The graffitied walls of North Kensington are a far cry from the mansions of Notting Hill. Recent events have illustrated a level of unrest between the residents around this area.

You might argue that the North Kensington side of Ladbroke Grove would disqualify it from entry to a list of 100 beautiful streets in London. In which case I would respectfully disagree for two reasons - 1: It paints a true story perfectly representative of west London as a whole, better than any other street I can think of, and there's a beauty to that itself, and 2: It would be unfair to mark it down. It would be like saying The Beatles are an average band just because of The White Album.
