I've featured this Sonic fangame in SAGE 2019 and while it was pretty good on its own, it had some questionable level design at times, as well as some clashing visual elements (not to mention the rather unintentionally goofy title screen).
From last year to now, the guys behind this Sonic fangame have upped their game when it comes to presentation. Upon seeing the intro and music choice, it dawned on me, they're going for the shoot 'em up vibe... but as a Sonic game. Games like Touhou, Thunder Force, Devil Engine, etc. Heck, the intro reminded me of ZeroRanger, another shmup I've played not too long ago that I genuinely enjoyed.
Presentation and music choice is great, however I do have some complaints:
1.Running physics feel off. For some reason you cannot clear loops with your normal top speed while running... but can if you're in ball form even if you enter the loop at the same speed
2.Still some questionable level design as well as some "beginner's traps" for first time players unless they know what to expect
3.Boss fights while flashy and telegraphed feel a bit too much for a first zone.
Anyway, I still enjoy it despite the listed flaws and I'm genuinely curious how this Sonic fangame will turn out.
