As I was preparing the boat for its initial shake down run I wanted to do some last minute fuel filtering of the port tank. I always felt as though that side has excessive water and issues. But I imagined that cycling some fuel through an external filter I would be able to clean it out. When I hooked up the external fuel pump to cycle the fuel from just before the engine drive pump and then back into the port fuel fill it was apparent I had high vacuum (restriction) on that side. After some basic troubleshooting it was quickly narrowed down to the pick up tube. That meant I had to get access to the INSIDE of the tank to figure out the blockage. This video documents all steps and parts used to add an access panel to your fuel tank. The only access panel I can recommend is the one that was recommended to me by many people in the know. The Sea Built access panels seen in the link from Fisheries Supply.
