My name is Dan, and I am a veterinarian. Today I am talking about tapeworms in the dog and cat. Tapeworms are very common in both the dog and cat.
The fastest and best way to diagnose a tapeworm in your pet is just looking at the poop. Tapeworms release large segments into the poop that look like rice. These tapeworm segments that look like rice will move around a little. These segments will bend and stretch a little and they try to move around.
A pet parent should bring the tapeworm with poop sample to their veterinary office for treatment. A veterinarian can look at the poop to diagnose the worm. The veterinarian will also want to submit the poop sample of microscopic exam to look for another parasite eggs.
