WILD CLAWHAMMER BANJO TECHNIQUE! California Roll Banjo Lesson - Steve Baughman

Demonstration of the California Roll on clawhammer banjo that I teach on the ZEN BANJO DVD.  This is a pretty advanced technique and it is best to be really comfy in your claw hand and rhythm before trying to learn this. Also, the California Roll is so much fun that it is hard to not grossly overdo it (like I do in the intro clip :-).  Try not to do that.

I use a Fred Kelly fingerpick on my first finger when I play the banjo (usually) but it is not necessary for the California Roll. I have it on here in the opening bit of June Apple, but not for the rest of the video. So a fingerpick is not necessary.
