Analysis of two decades' worth of seismic data has revealed that the upper magma reservoir beneath the Yellowstone Caldera is both twice as large and twice as molten than was previously estimated. More molten rock lurks beneath the Yellowstone Caldera — also known as the Yellowstone Supervolcano — than was previously thought, a new study reports. Located in the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, the supervolcano is believed to have undergone its last major eruption around 640,000 years ago.
