World Bird Sanctuary's Eagle Flight Team, led by Daniel Cone, is the largest team of flying eagles in the United States.
The training of these birds requires patience, gentle kindness, a keen understanding of the bird's behavior and a closely bonded relationship with each individual bird.
Unfortunately, our national symbol's population status is not as solidly re-established as we would like to believe. Our birds of prey as a whole are suffering from a variety of new modern problems such as lead poisoning and wind turbines.
The World Bird Sanctuary Eagle Flight team brings our bald eagles directly in front of admiring crowds who need to be reminded of the importance of these beautiful creatures. Each flight is paired with a message of conservation and  environmental protection.
Please join us the March 26th to celebrate the majesty of these eagles and those from around the world and learn more about their plight.
The teathers you see on the birds in this video are there to ensure that the bird does not fly off during training and injure himself, as they must re-train to free fly after each "vacation time". They are removed as soon as we are confident that they are ready to fly on their own. The bird does not notice the teathers when attached.
