The name of the Russian jeweller Carl Fabergé (1846–1920) became a synonym for refinement, beauty and luxury. He has gone down in history as a creator of his own style that became known as the “Fabergé style”.  The elegance, the unfailingly original and ingenious concept, the remarkable sense of material and consummate jewellery workmanship – these were the distinctive features of the style that was to be admired and imitated, but never surpassed by anybody. This video film was created for the exhibition held in the Carl Fabergé Memorial Rooms (Rooms 300–302) in the General Staff building of The State Hermitage Museum that opened on 29 December 2015. It presents the legacy of one of Russia’s largest jewellery firms founded by Carl Faberge and shows the subsequent development of the art of jewellery-making and stone-cutting, as well as the achievements of contemporary masters.
