This video shows a functional test of Pilz's PNOZsigma safety relays that were returned by a customer claiming all of them were defective:
• PNOZ s3 (3 pieces):

There was no description of the circumstances under which the safety relays were deemed to be defective. Therefore, the safety relays were tested as intended:
• in two different dual-channel architectures, with and without dynamic monitoring of short-circuits across input channels (Cat. 3 / Cat. 4);
• both with automatic reset;
• with two inputs coming from an emergency stop pushbutton.
On the output side of the safety relays, each of the normally open contacts were also tested, by switching a pair of contactors on and off, which can be clearly heard throughout the video.
All the PNOZ s3 safety relays under test (Year of Manufacture 2015, 2016 and 2017, respectively) worked as intended, under the aforementioned conditions. However, the PNOZ s5 safety relay under test (YOM 2017) was unfortunately defective.
