This video covers the open stance forehands vs the closed stance forehands. The open stance forehand is not a new concept. If you take a look at some of the matches from the 70's and 80's you can clearly see that the open stance forehand was widely used on both the ATP and the WTA tour. In the 1978 French Open final between Borg and Vilas, both players struck the forehand primarily with the open stance technique. In modern tennis, the frequency of open stance forehands has increased to the point, where players on both the ATP and WTA tour almost always hit from the open stance position. In this video, you will learn the biomechanical reason why the open stance forehand has been the preferred stance for decades. You will also learn when it's appropriate to strike the forehand from a closed stance position.
