Two years ago Elisa Pistis started presenting a feminine version of a theatrical piece, Mistero Buffo, that was written and played by a man for almost half a century. Dario Fo was a great italian actor and a Nobel Prize winner for literature. Acting Mistero Buffo as a woman presented many closed doors.
But eventually she went beyond prejudices and bias and showed the universality of the piece, overcoming patriarchy and breaking the patterns that for too long have given voice only to the male part of society. Great ideas need to be developed and passed down to others - regardless of time, place or gender. Elisa is an Italian actress and professional author. Despite her petite figure, when she’s performing the stage never feels empty: her energy and passion arrive straight to the audience, which thus embraces an immersive journey through her voice and gestures. She firmly believes that the only way to not let masterpieces die is re-interpreting them without being afraid of bringing in our own point of view: if not, the performances would be mere copies and slowly fade away.
