The three ports of Kaiping, including Changsha Port, Xinchang Port, and Dihai Port, are known as the "Little Wuhan" and are the political, economic, and cultural centers of Kaiping City. This visit is to Xinchangbu.

Xinchang Port was first built in the seventh year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1881). It was originally a sandy beach and low-lying field on the south bank of the Tanjiang River. Due to the inconvenience of local residents crossing the river to Changsha Port or Dihai Port on their daily trips, local villagers initiated the establishment of Xinchang Port. Because it is the latest commercial port among the three ports, it is named Xinchang.

Xinchang Port was the most prosperous commercial port among the three ports at that time, with multiple provincial ferry terminals and ferries bound for the provincial capital Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong, Macau, and other places. As a result, it attracted a large number of foreign merchants to open stores and do business in Xinchang. Driven by commercial activities, the business of restaurants, tea rooms, hotels, and theaters has flourished. To facilitate commercial activities, Guangdong Provincial Bank, Bank of Communications, Zhongfu Bank, and numerous banks have opened in Xinchang. Livestock, aquatic products, and vegetable markets also gather in Xinchang. With convenient waterway transportation, fresh aquatic products from Shunde and other places are transported daily to Xinchang for wholesale and sales. At that time, the market in Xinchang Port mainly relied on overseas remittance consumption, and the market was prosperous.
