Gregory Peck - Dual in the Sun (1946) - 6 The Duel

The scorching sun matches the scorching final duel that ends this love-hate relationship of Lewt & Pearl. Some reviewers have called this the final 'sex' act, with the lovers penetrating each other with bullets, perhaps that's an apt description for this memorably over-the-top ending. Even to her last breath, she still can't resist Lewt, crawling up to meet him as both are bleeding to death. "Little bobcat..." Lewt calls out to her one last time... they kiss passionately and Lewt dies mid-kiss, Pearl follows him seconds later. The closing shot of the two lovers lying in each other's arms drenched in sweat seemed to suggest they're simply exhausted from passionate lovemaking!
