The STEELDIVE SD1970, an homage of the Seiko 6501-8110 Captain Willard, is a powerhouse of the budget watch collecting community! Their new lower price should introduce many newcomers to the brand, and possibly gain some first-time mechanical watch owners. Existing SD1970 fans may be tempted to pickup another color! For about $89 USD, you get a 316L stainless steel dive watch, signed screw-down crown and caseback, 200m of water resistance, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 120-click unidirectional bezel with ceramic insert, industry leading STRONG luminescence, solid link bracelet, and a Seiko NH35A automatic movement! My first SD1970 clocked in at -6.9 spd overall in 135 days of logging. The 2nd SD1970 is running at -9.9 spd over 44 days. Both are out of the box, not regulated. Seiko's accuracy range for the NH35A is stated to be within -20 to +40 seconds per day under normal conditions.
