In this tutorial and review, I will show you how to use a cheap LM317 voltage regulator for your DIY electronic projects. This module is also known as a buck converter, step down power supply or DC-DC linear regulator. You can use a cheap LM317 adjustable voltage regulator to change the voltage output of a power supply to any lower value.
It’s a great solution for using the same power supply with multiple devices needing different voltages. For example, you can use a 12V DC power supply and a buck converter to power an arduino (5V) or ESP8266 (3.3V). You can also use the LM317 module to regulate the speed of a computer fan or the intensity of a LED.
