The KiraVan is meant to be the ultimate exploration vehicle—a ’Swiss army knife on wheels.’ A pet project for designer Bran Ferren, who named the van after his daughter Kira, the KiraVan also acts as a test bed for travel tech and vehicle engineering.
In the latest episode of Voyager, made possible by KAYAK.co.uk, Motherboard visits Ferren in LA county to see his souped-up caravan, which comes complete with everything from cameras and thermal imagers to an accompanying motorbike hoisted on the back. Formerly president of R&D at Walt Disney Imagineering, Ferren’s certainly not short of ideas to add to his design.
After a tour, we take the KiraVan for a test drive.
