Mahesh Bhatt on Kartoos and his Bollywood directorial journey in a TV show in 2002. He was in his early 50's when he gave this interview.
Kartoos is a 1999 Indian Hindi action film directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Manisha Koirala. It is the last release of Mahesh Bhatt as a director.
Mahesh Bhatt, Indian filmmaker speaks about his film Kartoos. He says, "I have a complaint with this word retirement because when I said that I will not direct any film that doesn't mean that I am leaving film industry. I only said that I will not direct films, film direction is a part of filmmaking it's not everything. I said that I will enlarge my role and I will perform a wider role and every filmmaker becomes dated with time and it is very glad to see that your juniors perform better than you in your presence.
Kartoos is an unpretentious film and it has an interesting concept. Sanjay Dutt has become a more serious person in real life now, there are not superficial things in him which he used to have earlier life has touched him and he has become impatient now because he has been through a lot."
