A timeless composition ……an aura of piety…..

Amba Neelambari is a Kriti composed by Ponniah Pillai in raga Neelambari and set to Adi Talam, the lyrics of which are in praise of Goddess Devi, revered as the mother of the universe.  The vilambakala or slow pace of the song heightens the beauty of raga Neelambari, soothing the senses. This piece, accompanied by mellow sounds of bells, strings, and percussive elements, begins with a flowing improvisational rendition of a verse from Sri Rajarajeshwari ashtakam – a set of eight verses about the greatness of Devi. The goddess is described as ‘Tribhuvani’(residing in the three worlds), as ‘Paradevatha’ (Supreme divinity) and as ‘Venu Murali Ganapriya Lolini’ (who likes the music of Lord Krishna’s Flute).

The rendition of the Kriti is by Sindhuja Bhakthavatsalam  and Kamaladeepthi Vempati  and music production is by Vidyashankar KR.
