We're revisiting the AMD R7 2700 (and roughly 2700X, via the OC) in 2020, benchmarked freshly against the R9 3900X, 3700X, Intel i5-10600K, 10900K, and more for games, work, and power.

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700 is only two years old, with its release date back in 2018, but the upcoming launch of the AMD Ryzen XT CPUs (3600XT, 3800XT, and 3900XT) means it's a good time to revisit the 2700. This helps set the stage for performance expectations in today's market, with freshly updated results for the AMD Ryzen 3900X & 3700X vs. the AMD R7 2700. Remember that the 2700X was just an overclocked 2700, basically, and so our OC numbers get you within the ballpark of the 2700X result. The AMD R7 2700 was mostly embattled with the i7-8700K, which was a powerful retaliation from Intel, but later regained interest with major price reductions as the 2700 CPU aged. We're testing it for games, production applications like 3D modeling or video editing, and for updated power. Of course, it may be worth waiting before jumping on an upgrade right now.
