Dem Autorenfilmer Lazlo Kovac (Zoltan Paul) wird die Finanzierung für sein Filmprojekt abgesagt. Zu alt, Herzprobleme und nicht mehr vermittelbar. Wollte der Ungar vom Balaton nicht mal ganz hoch hinaus? Was nun? Weiter seiner erfolgreichen Frau auf der Tasche liegen? Lazlo schlittert in eine waschechte Lebenskrise und findet Trost bei einer „Wahnsinnsfrau“ aus dem Nachbardorf.
Als sich ein rechtspopulistischer Politiker zum einzigen Bürgermeisterkandidaten aufstellen lässt, scheint Lazlo sich zu besinnen: Um den Rechtsaußen in seinem 120-Seelen-Dorf zu verhindern, lässt er sich überstürzt als liberaler Gegenkandidat aufstellen. ÜBERLEBEN IN BRANDENBURG ist eine Komödie über Altersdiskriminierung und die Post-Midlife-Crisis mit brandaktuellem Bezug zur politischen Situation.

The auteur filmmaker Lazlo Kovac (Zoltan Paul) is denied funding for his film project. Too old, heart problems and no longer employable. Didn't the Hungarian from Lake Balaton once want to aim high? What now? Continue to be on his successful wife's back? Lazlo slips into a real life crisis and finds solace with a "crazy woman" from the neighboring village.
When a right-wing populist politician puts himself forward as the only candidate for mayor, Lazlo seems to come to his senses: In order to prevent the right-winger from running in his village of 120 inhabitants, he hastily puts himself forward as a liberal opponent. ÜBERLEBEN IN BRANDENBURG is a comedy about age discrimination and the post-midlife crisis with a very topical reference to the political situation.
