Today, I am building a magic wand for Wizards Unite, the new game based on the popular Harry Potter serries. My son grew up on Harry Potter, and I love the books, as well as the movies.

So, when James Wright from Wood By Wright invited me to join in on a wand build, I was excited, and couldn't wait to jump in.

When I started building a magic wand, i knew I couldn't do some of the fancy work I have seen on other wands. However, I wanted something that anyone could build, and use a handful of simple tools. Everything you need is probably available at your local hardware store or hobby shop.

My wand is a Pecan wand made from a branch of a pecan tree I cut down in my back yard. The inlay was done with metalic forest green paint mixed in Epoxy

A lot of people want to know more about my HoPE carvings. I use HoPE in a lot of my work because of my daughter. She was born six years ago with a rare brain malformation called Holoprosencephaly. HPE for short.

We work a lot with families of kids like Emily, and one of the groups we work with is called Families For HoPE, a non profit grass roots funded group that supports families like ours.  In our group, we call the families who support these rare kids  Anchors of HoPE. Because of this, I use a lot of anchors and HoPE in my woodworking.
