This is my review of a very traditional looking dress watch by A. Lange & Söhne named the Saxonia Thin. The reference number is displayed (211.033), and this piece is available in either 18k white gold or rose gold. The retail price is around 20,000USD.

What’s special about this piece is that it is the thinnest watch crafted by the company so far. The manual wound movement has a thickness of just 2.9 mm which is quite incredible considering it is comprised of 167 parts with 21 jewels. Likewise, the overall case is only 5.9mm with a diameter of 40mm. This watch compliments a dress shirt nicely and expresses a discreet and elegant look. The power reserve is approximately 72 hours when fully wound.

According to the company, this piece is “reduced to the essence” and thereby “concentrates on the essential functions of a mechanical watch; namely, the indication of time in hours and minutes.” The result is certainly very balanced and elegant.

In conclusion, the Saxonia Thin is very much the A. Lange Söhne equivalent of the Patek Philippe Calatrava series. Both are stylish, classic and in many ways will never go out of style. These timepieces are the crème de le crème of a traditional gentlemen’s dress watch. On the other hand, this traditional design might appear too dull, plain, or uninteresting. I see this watch complimenting an older gentleman much more so than a younger one. Let me know what you think of this timepiece, and visit my channel for many more watch reviews and explanation videos.

I would like to thank Harrods in London for letting me film this piece and for providing me with excellent service. Thank you very much for watching, have a good day, bye.
