25th Anniversary of the World Wide Web video dedication :
The first web page hosted at CERN is viewed by the "first" ( in fact a later version of the first readily accessible web browser known as the line-mode browser). It was written by Nicola Pellow and released in 1992. The browser which she wrote is important as it was able to run on a variety of platforms and on the most basic of terminals. The first web browser was developed in 1990 by Tim Berners-Lee named the WorldWideWeb.
A Livermore Model B modem from the mid 1960s to early 1970s is used to connect to a remote UNIX (Solaris) system. The terminal that is connected to the Livermore is an ASR-33 Teletype of similar vintage. The connection speed between the Livermore and the remote Hayes Smartmodem is 110 bits per second.
