This is a play-through using Shippo in the PS1 game Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale. Read on below for more information... Shippo is an unlockable playable character in this game. ===== About Shippo ===== Judging from his dialogue in the game's story mode, he is a fox demon and seems to be a helpful accomplice of the main heroes. He may have a goal/motive himself. Design-wise, I thought this character was a female for the longest time... I mean the bow in the hair and the voice? Japanese anime/manga just keeps on making us wonder at times. Anyway, Shippo is one of those small and over-active characters that provides the comic-relief. Personally I think he looks weird with those fox legs... it's definitely not cute in my view. Gameplay-wise, Shippo is a very good character against the CPU. For a start, he's obviously a small target which makes him hard to hit and combo on... and he's fast as well. The Fire Bombs move is very safe to do and catches opponents out easily because the bombs drop FAST; and the Multiply Spell has a large hitbox. You can also use the Transformation move to turn into the opponent. Because of his character size, the drawback is obviously the fact that his range is rather short which makes starting combos quite difficult. ===== Additional Information ===== ---- No, you cannot use the Transformation move to turn into and play as the guy with the flame on the Mini-Game stage! ---- The game is known as Inuyasha: Sengoku Otogi Kassen in Japan. ===== About Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale ===== This is a high-quality PS1 game as a lot of effort was put into it. The portrait artwork captures the manga/anime feel very well, and has some excellently composed music. The in-fight sprites are also drawn and animated very well, especially Kagome. The game also has some of the nicest 2D stage backgrounds with lighting effects that affect the character sprites depending on where they are, as well as voice-acting for the story mode. Due to the high number of animation frames and the detailed backgrounds, the game runs at 30fps. Gameplay-wise, it most certainly does not play like your average Capcom/SNK/etc. fighting game. Instead, the game focuses on strikes and has a simple and flexible combo system which involves just sequence pressing between the 2 strike buttons in virtually any order you like to create a basic combo. There is also one button dedicated to executing a character's special moves, therefore, you won't find any quarter/half/360 circle command moves here folks. The game plays very similar to Shaman King: Spirit of Shamans... in fact it's virtually the exact same formula.
