An Alloy is a Homogenous mixture of two or more metals or of a metal and a nonmetal mixed in a fixed proportion by mass in their molten states. Alloying is a very good method of improving the properties of a metal.  Ex- Iron is widely used metal but is never used in its pure form because it is very soft and easily stretchable when hot, but when the iron is mixed with small amount of carbon
then it becomes hard and strong.

Stainless Steel- Iron + Nickel + Chromium
Gold 24 carat Gold is very soft, so it is alloyed with Silver and Copper to make it hard.
The alloy of the Metal Mercury is called an amalgam.
Copper is a Good Conductor of Electricity but when it is mixed with zinc to form brass or mixed with tin to form bronze loses its conducting capacity.
An alloy of Led and Tin which is called solder has a low melting point.
