Doha (الدوحة 2023) is the capital of Qatar (قطر). Qatar is one of the Emirates on the Saudi Arabia Peninsula. The country has become very rich since the 1970's due to the discovery of enormous gas wells. The total population of Qatar is almost 3 million. Although a considerable proportion of the population is an immigrant from South East Asia, especially from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Most Qatari though citizens are Salafi Muslim (Wahhabism). Doha has a population of 1 million. Some highlights of the city are the ; Musheireb downtown, the Amiri Diwan (the office of the Emir), the Souq Waqif, the West Bay district, the Sheraton Hotel and the National Museum of Qatar. In 2022 Qatar organized successfully the Soccer World Cup.
