From Elton John's 1975 album "Rock of the Westies." It was a top 40 double single backed with "Grow Some Funk of Your Own." Robert Ford was the assassin of the Western outlaw hero Jesse James. Who but Bernie Taupin would think it a household name! Taupin described this as a "knife-in-the-back love song," and Elton's melancholy melody and vocal, as well as Davey Johnstone's soaring guitar solo, portray the passion.
