"Moral Scrupulosity" is about, well, moral scrupulosity. It's a form of OCD, and I've been debilitated by it for many years but didn't have a name for it. I wrote this song in 2023, but didn't get around to singing it until I was confronted with two heart-wrenching situations within the span of two weeks, and no amount of talking or rationalization could save me. So I bashed on some piano keys, screamed into a microphone, and three takes later I had a recording. I didn't know what to call the track, so I started searching the web to see if other people were experiencing the same fear of hurting people as I was. That's when I found the term moral scrupulosity, and how this song got its title. Now that I can label the feeling, I'm able to find the proper coping strategies. So, in a way, producing this song set me on a path to wellness. Funny how that works.
