Here is the second episode of my trip to Sri Lanka.
After visiting the coast, it was time to discover the wonders in the heart of this country

In this video I will take you to see one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, the summer residence of King Kashyapa located on a 180 meter high rock where he lived with his 500 concubines, the tooth of Buddha and temples carved into the rocks over 2000 Years ago.
Are you ready for this trip?

The first journey of about 3 hours took us to Ella, a small town in the mountains of Sri Lanka with breathtaking views.
The star of this picturesque village located in the hills of Sri Lanka is certainly the 9 Arch Bridge of Ella,
Also called the Bridge in the Sky, it is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country.

Arriving by train in Nuwara Eliya, we visited the Grand Hotel, a historic building that takes you back to the colonial life of the 1800s.
We then took the car to stop in Kandy, here in addition to the extremely beautiful royal botanical garden, we witnessed the ceremony of the Temple of the Tooth. Here is the tooth relic of Buddha which is shown to devotees every day through two ceremonies.

Let's finish with Sigirya 🇱🇰

According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Cūḷavaṃsa, this area used to be a large forest, then after storms and landslides it became a hill and was chosen by King Kashyapa (477–495 AD) for his new capital.

He built his palace on top of this rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes.
On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gate in the shape of a huge lion.
The name of this place comes from this structure; Sīnhāgiri, Lion's Rock (a similar etymology to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name for Singapore, the Lion City).

The King built his palace in 7 years and lived in his heights for 18 years, among his soldiers to protect him and his 500 concubines.

Of these beautiful women he had frescoed all over the rock.
Unfortunately only 18 remain, beautiful and fascinating with their over 1600 years ✨

The capital and the royal palace were abandoned after the king's death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century.
Sigiriya today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
