Adam Bernard Brashear ( Blue Marvel )is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Blue Marvel debuted in Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel #1 (Nov. 2008) and was created by actor/writer Kevin Grevioux, who originally conceived the character as a child.
Adam Brashear debuted in the five issue Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel mini-series created by Kevin Grevioux.[2][3] A different version later appeared briefly in What If? Secret Invasion #1 (Feb. 2010).
In 2013, Blue Marvel appeared as part of Luke Cage's new team of superheroes during the Infinity crossover, in the Marvel NOW! relaunch of Mighty Avengers.
Kevin Grevioux based Blue Marvel on the concept of "What if Superman were black in the early 1960s, and how would the world react to him?"
Regarding Blue Marvel's power level, he also was quoted as saying "As long as I'm writing the character, he won't be so strong that he makes other characters look foolish. He is just in the same league as the Hulk, Thor, Superman, Sentry, Orion, J'onn J'onzz, etc. He's NOT above them".
In Ultimates (Vol. 3) #4, Adam was stated to be 87 years old.
