World leaders have agreed on 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development aiming to end extreme poverty, inequality and climate change by the year 2030. But what is needed to reach the goal? Can we eradicate extreme poverty by 2030?

In this talk Sida’s Director General Carin Jämtin explains why equal rights is the pathway to fighting global poverty and reaching the Global Goals. And how Swedish aid works to ensure equal rights for all and empower more people to take actions and be agents of change in their societies. Carin Jämtin, born in 1964, has a long and solid experience in Swedish development cooperation, not least in the capacity of Minister for International Development Cooperation between 2003 and 2006 and as Deputy Secretary General at the Olof Palme International Center. For the past three years Carin Jämtin has served as a member of the Swedish parliament. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
