In this video, we discuss the concepts of polar alignment, drift alignment, and tracking targets for astrophotography.
It is hoped that the seemingly "difficult" concept of polar alignment can be "demystified" to some degree, and that the viewer will understand that "it's just a couple of circles". :)
I said in the video I'd offer a method for locating "South" in your field of view, and then neglected to do so. The easiest method I've found is to simply place a red flashlight at the southern edge of the OTA, and allow it to "peek" over the edge, observing the field of view at the time. Where the red glow appears is south. :)
