The decision-making process is never easy for UPSC aspirants when it comes to choosing their optional subject. But when it's your last attempt and you're thinking about switching the optional subject, taking decisions becomes even harder.

Mr. Arpit Sharma (AIR 369) is from Pitampura, Delhi. He graduated from Delhi Technological University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and then began studying for the civil services examination. He failed to clear even the preliminary stage in his initial 5 attempts, but in his last (6th) attempt, he passed the prestigious CSE exam with Political Science And International Relations (PSIR) as his Optional subject.
In an effort to perform well in the prestigious Civil Services Examination, thousands of candidates start their UPSC journey each year. One of the goals that has remained constant for many aspirants over the years is passing the UPSC Civil Services Exam. In spite of the fact that although the number of aspirants is rising every year, the number of vacancies is reducing significantly. This causes worry while preparing for the examination and results in failure. The UPSC preparation is an arduous journey and its difficulty level can be gauged by the fact that only 0.1% of the people appearing in the examination get selected.
