Toronto Police Chief James Ramer and Staff Superintendent Lauren Pogue are joined by Mayor John Tory to provide an update on the city’s operational plans for another possible convoy protest. Chief Ramer announces police have closed several downtown roads to vehicle traffic and that officers will not allow protestors to set up encampments. He also announces that additional road closures are possible, and that police are prepared to move convoy trucks. Mayor Tory and Chief Ramer also comment on the Ontario government declaring a state of emergency due to the ongoing protests occurring across the province. A convoy in protest of COVID-19 vaccine mandates and restrictions arrived in the city on February 5, but nearly all vehicles had left by the end of the day.
