Sometimes all you need is a ballad. I really like writing songs like this, it's really straight forward and you know instinctively what the song needs at any given time. I had a lot of fun writing this but even more fun doing the arrangement. I kept adding strings and percussion and mixing them really low and just slowly built it up. I can't express how much fun it is to go from a piano riff to something that slowly starts to sound like a full song.
The background picture is one that Mando took when we were out camping last week. Here's a video where she's doing am improvised herding call by the lake Swedish Heardingcall by Super Echo-y ...
