Forty years ago we heard of the first reported cases of what we now know as HIV. That changed the world forever and millions of lives have been lost. But we’ve also made incredible medical progress since then that means you can now live a long, healthy life with HIV. Ian Green, Chief Executive at Terrence Higgins Trust, talks about the devastation of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s and remembers those lost to the epidemic. He’s joined by Anne Aslett, CEO of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, who talks about the global fight against HIV; while Dr Laura Waters, Chair of the British HIV Association, highlights all of the medical progress that’s been made – including that those on effective HIV treatment can’t pass the virus on.
