After using cellular trail cameras for more than two years, one thing I've learned is you need some kind of external power source. Otherwise you're going to be buying batteries on a regular basis. I've been using the spypoint camera for over a year now and it's no exception.
The Spypoint Link S has built in trail camera batteries which makes it very convenient. But the Spypoint link s comes with a price tag. The Spypoint Link S is atleast a hundred dollars more expensive than the Spypoint Link Dark, Spypoint Link W and I'm sure the Spypoint Link Micro.
All these cameras are great but just like your cellular phones the cellular trail camera is going to use a lot of battery power. I bought an HME (Hunting Made Easy) Solar battery box that will charge any trail camera with a 12v input. This HME Solar Auxiliary power pack is a must have if you don't want to buy batteries on a regular basis.
I used to use a moltrie solar battery pack and it worked really well. Eventually I took it to the Michigan's upper peninsula and the cold weather destroyed the lithium batteries. Cellular trail camera's are pretty much available everywhere now days. You can buy Spypoint Cellular trail cameras at Cabelas, Sportsman's wherehouse, gander outdoors, bass pro shops plus many other places. I bought the new Stealth Cam verizon cellular trail camera and I'm excited to test it out as well as the new cuddeback cellular trail camera. I only use verizon because in michigan's upper peninsula it's the only service that works where our deer camp is.
Cellular trail cameras are a great tool to scout for deer and be able to stay out of the woods and fields. It's great having trail cameras that send pictures to your phone. I've used Moltrie and Spypoint and I heard there's a browning trail camera. I've done a lot of research and done many trail camera reviews. YOu can use trail cameras for security especially if you're trying to observe a property that isn't by your residents. I recently saw that they have cellular trail cameras at walmart.
I feel like most game camera reviews are biased. Many of the people giving the trail camera reviews are being payed by those companies. I've taken a lot of trail camera pictures and saved them to my hard drives I have put some of them at the end of this video.
I would still like to the Spypoint solar camera the Spypoint link s. Just to see how it compares to an external battery pack. The HME external battery for trail cameras works with most trail cameras. The Hunting made Easy External power pack has a special connector to plug into bushnell cameras. The bushnell cameras have a different type of 12 volt input. If you're not interested in buying a new trail camera you might be able to buys some trail cameras on ebay.
Spypoint Trail cameras have been around for quite a while. The Stealth cam cellular trail camera has been around for a couple years but as far as I know this is the first year they have had the StealthCam cellular trail camera with Verizon. I'm sure if I had an AT&T it would work fine for the farm I hunt down here in Mid Michigan. But for the UP I have to have a Verizon Cellular trail camera.
If you've haven't got one make sure you go and get your Michigan Hunting License. Get out and do some hunting. I would like to get a security box and place a cellular trail camera on some public hunting land near me just to see what's out there. I'm hoping to score a big buck this year. The hunting season I'm sure is going to be very long. I've been planting food plots I've planted imperial no plow and Some Imperial antler grow beats.
