WEATHER ALERT DAY: Blowing snow
WEATHER ALERT DAY: Blowing snow this morning and dangerous wind chills. This will continue through the weekend. Significant travel impacts expected, if you must travel, make sure you are prepared for rapidly changing weather and road conditions. Delay travel, if possible.
Wind chill values today will be 30 to 60 degrees below zero. Frostbite can occur quickly to exposed skin with these types of wind chills! Please keep children, elderly or at risk neighbors, and pets in mind through Monday morning. More rounds of snowfall are likely for the weekend as moisture continues to overrun the arctic air in place.
Snow and blowing snow will continue through mid-morning. Additional accumulations will stay less than an inch or two. Wind will remain strong today. Gusts in excess of 40 mph will be common. Daytime highs will stay in the single digits and teens below zero. Near record cold is expected tonight/early Saturday. Air temperature Saturday morning will be in the 30s below zero. The all-time record in Kalispell is 38 degrees below zero, current forecast has the low dropping to 35 below.
