The great spiritual master and author of the classic Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramhansa Yogananda, told his students that in a past life he had been William the Conqueror—the duke of Normandy and king of England in the latter half of the eleventh century. He also said that his guru, Swami Sri Yukteswar, had been William's close ally and counselor, Archbishop Lanfranc. The book Blessed Lanfranc highlights scores of fascinating connections, and important differences, between these two famous incarnations of a great master. In this video, the author shares experiences he had while visiting sacred sites related to Lanfranc—and how they hint at a very different divine manifestation than one would typically expect from Sri Yukteswarji.
