Spillane an Fánaí Series 2 starts on TG4 Tuesday Oct 21st next. Fair play to me! Well lads I wrote a song for the town of BOYLE and it's called THE MAN WHO CAME IN FROM THE DARK. It's based on the story of John Reilly, the traveller from around Boyle who was the keeper of a treasure trove of ancient ballads he had learned from his parents around the campfires of the West of Ireland. Scholars and Song Collectors came to Boyle to record him and learn his songs, including a young Christy Moore who went on make famous versions of John's songs such as THE WELL BELOW THE VALLEY, THE RAGGLE TAGGLE GYPSY, and LORD BAKER. The song is rockin! It's going down a bomb lads and is also the title track of my new album! We had a fabulous time in Wynne's Bar in Boyle and this first program in the new SPILLANE AN FÁNAÍ series goes to air on TG4 TUESDAY OCTOBER 21st at 10pm repeated Oct 23rd at 9pm. DON'T MISS IT!
