First IRISH ROVERS IN IRELAND film Special 1971

This was the very first CBC Vancouver Special of THE IRISH ROVERS IN IRELAND filmed 48 years ago in Antrim, Northern Ireland.  In 1971 Will, George, Jimmy, Joe & Wilcil introduced viewers to their homeland and locations like Dunluce Castle, the Giant’s Causeway and the Glens of Antrim before ending at Ireland’s oldest thatch-roofed pub for a singalong with their guests Carmel Quinn, Tommy Makem, John Allan Cameron and Jimmy Kennedy.  From CBC Ottawa Research: The Irish Rovers in Ireland Special had a bigger audience than all other CBC produced Variety Specials during 71-72 season except for Anne Murray Specials.  It was more enjoyed than any other CBC produced Variety Specials including Anne Murray shows."
