Far-right go missing as counter-protesters make stand against disorder

Keir Starmer hails ‘lessons’ sent to those involved in disorder following a night where far-right protests never materialised. Riots across the UK - with scores of them in London - have marked a positive change in the unrest across the nation this week. Riots have turned into peaceful protests in places such as Walthamstow, Birmingham, Sheffield, Bristol, Manchester and Derby. Despite a promise of chaos in 100 areas, protests remained mostly peaceful. However, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed it made eight arrests in Croydon after thugs threw fireworks at police.
