Directed Retrieve Dog Obedience Training

How to teach your dog a directed retrieve.  The directed retrieve is used in AKC obedience as well as other dog sports, its also a good skill to teach your dog to follow your lead and to align themselves with you.



A dog that is set up with you will align themselves with you and point into the direction that you face and thereby pick up the object they are facing.  Sport dog (hunting dogs / retriever) trainers use a similar skill called the wagon wheel where a dog is pointed at various objects and asked to pick up that object without disturbing the other objects.
