Tinga Tinga Tales Swinging Monkey Race is based on the African-inspired animated series Tinga Tinga Tales. In this game, players try to be the first monkey to reach the pile of fruit on the finish space.
To begin, kids must set up the game path. Place the start circle anywhere on the playing area, then set up the 15 trees in any order after the start circle. Place the finish circle at the end of the row of trees. Place the monkeys on the start circle, and you're ready to go. Take turns rolling the three dice to see how far you can move on the trees. You can only move if one of the three fruit you rolled matches the fruit on a tree. For instance, if you roll a banana, watermelon, and mango, you can move to the first tree if it has one of those three fruit pieces on it. Let's say it has a banana on it. You can then move to the second tree if it has either a watermelon or mango on it. Let's say it has a mango. You can move to the third tree if it has a watermelon on it. If the tree has no matching fruit, you cannot move. Each tree has three pieces of fruit on it, so if you can't move forward, you might be able to move sideways. If you roll the dice and land on the side with all five pieces of fruit, that means you can move your monkey to any piece of fruit. The first player to land on the finish space, which has all the fruit, wins.
