Huntsman spider also called clock spider belongs to the family of Sparassidae. The Sparassidae family of spiders have eight forward facing eyes giving them an enigmatic look.

What makes huntsman spider different from ordinary spiders is their incredibly large size. Some huntsman spiders are measured to have a leg span of 30 centimeter.

But the most unique characteristic of clock spider is their mating ritual in which male huntsman spider produce vibrations from its abdomen which is eerily similar to a ticking clock. Combined with their size comparable to the clock, huntsman spider are informally known as clock spider.
