Not so short video on how I identify which wires to use in a stereo cable to make it a mono cable for toys and switches.

When you open up the cable, the wire may be any assortment of colors. red/white/black, white/black/yellow, red/white/yellow, red/blue/white, any almost random selection.


These three wires represent the tip, ring and sleeve on a stereo cable. Common, left ear and right ear.

We need to combine the two wires from the ring and the sleeve (left and right ear) to make single wire, and identify the tip for the other side of our mono cable.


Here is how I tell the two that need to be combined to make it mono.
